The goal of the Community Sediment Transport Modeling System (CSTMS) is to produce an opensource model that couples hydrodynamics (circulation and waves), sediment transport, and morphodynamics. The model is intended to be used as both a research tool and for practical applications. An accurate and useful model requires coupling sediment-transport with hydrodynamic forcing and stratigraphic evolution. Ultimately, the modeling system will consist of interoperable modules, conforming to a community-accepted standard such as the Earth System Modeling Framework (ESMF).
