MODEL OBJECTIVE

Predict the effect of management decisions on water and sediment yields with reasonable accuracy on large, ungaged rural watersheds.

MODEL COMPONENTS

  • Weather
  • surface runoff
  • return flow
  • percolation
  • ET
  • transmission losses
  • pond and reservoir storage
  • crop growth
  • irrigation

MODEL OPERATION

  • Daily time step - long term simulations (1-100 years)
  • Basins subdivided to account for differences in soils, land use, crops, topography, weather, etc.
  • Soil profile can be divided into ten layers
  • Basins of several hundred square miles can be studied
  • Weather generation is optional
  • Weather & Soils-5 databases are direct access
  • IBM-PC version takes 5 sec/year on 80386 machine with coprocessor
  • Nutrient and pesticide input/output
  • Groundwater model added
