A PLANT of the class Musci, comprising small bryophtes with scale-like leaves usually spirally arranged, with a spore-capsule usually opening by a lid, which grow in crowded masses in BOGs or on SURFACEs; or any of certain ALGAs, LICHENs, PTERIDOPHYTEs, or flowering PLANTs resembling moss in habit; moss SOED or a moss-like plant.
