此方程遵从于:

式中,x1是有限的营养物质;x2是藻类; x3是浮游动物;不等式对应于饮用水的质量要求; aik是常数; uj是输人量; εk{0,1}是模型简化常数;a1是水流速率; a2是流入的营养浓度; a3是浮游动物死亡率; f1=a5+a6ε1x7幻是藻类的最大生长率函数; f2=a3+a4ε1x7 是藻类的半饱和率函数;f3 =a7 +a8ε1x7 +a9 sinx4 + a10ε1x7sinx4是藻类呼吸作用和再矿化作用率函数; f3=a11+a12ε1x7+ε3u545 是浮游动物进食率函数; u1是某一藻类细胞的体积; u2是浮游动物物种的不同大小; u3是水流速率的变化; u4是净化作用引起的流人营养物质浓度的变化; u5是浮游动物进食的变化。
